who could i be ?
mixed media on paper, 2025 - present
I bring together the sterility of ultrasound images - of human embryos and of mythical creatures - with a tactile imprint of my own body, made before the transformative experience of motherhood.

I’m looking for the miracle at its very source - in the potential for development, at the point of absolute variability. Perhaps these are the children of Cronus who won’t be devoured. Could they break past the boundaries of the norm while they’re still forming, asserting their right to be anything at all?

cockroach painting
post-surgical infant Feeding nipples, pencil, cocroach, 2024
Cockroaches showed up in my apartment. I caught them and turned them into paintings. And one self-portrait.

The painting series is four canvases bearing the imprint of cockroach traps. The self-portrait is a canvas with found objects - two feeding tubes used for post-surgical nursing of my son. A cockroach /not/ accidentally laid its eggs and died inside one of those tubes rather than abandon its offspring. Marginal and unwanted, the cockroach turns out to be vulnerable, and to share the same values and fears as a person.
Self-Portrait, canvas, post-surgical nipples, cockroach, 60 × 40 cm, 2024
